Foreign Tours

The Capriol Singers have had two very successful foreign concert tours.  In July 2002 we took 50 choir members and friends to Ghent and Bruges where we enjoyed sightseeing and singing in equal measure.  However, the highlight of the trip was undoubtedly singing at The Last Post Ceremony which takes place every evening at the Menin Gate in Ypres.  Approximately 500 people had gathered to watch the ceremony and we were honoured that one of our members was invited to pronounce the Exhortation. The choir sang Thou knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts by Purcell, and the grace God be in my head by Walford Davies, and the ceremony made a very moving and fitting end to our first concert tour.

In July 2005 the Capriol Singers travelled to Boppard in the Rhineland for our second foreign tour.  We visited the beautiful towns of  Koblenz and Ruedesheim,  enjoyed wine-tasting in Boppard, trips on the beautiful Rhine, castles, coffee, and chairlifts – and we fitted in three concerts as well!  We were especially delighted to join together with a local choir Vokalensemble Mittelrhein and share a concert platform. We have since made a firm link with this choir. They visited Liverpool in May 09 when we again had the opportunity to sing together and renew old friendships. We hope to be able to visit Bopard again in the future.
