Crosby Capriol Singers- Cheddar, via Jerusalem
Our entry for the British Cheese Board "National Anthem for Cheddar" competition!
Lyrics
Feed us the fast food we adore,
(Loved long 'fore Maccie's touched this shore),
Our daily lunch, a sandwich of cheese,
So quick to make, so sure to please.
What need have we, of KFC?
And Burger King? Just hear us sing,
This cheese, for a thousand years and more,
Has been the best in our foodstore.
Bring it with crackers, oatcakes or toast,
Bring us the cheddar we want most.
Don't bring me soft, or cheese that is blue,
We like hard cheese and so do you.
A Yorkshire man takes his with jam,
Olympians eat all they can.
On canapes, all served with fizz,
A sparkling treat for Diamond Liz. -
